| Résumé : |
The Wind in the Willows is a classic children’s novel first published in 1908, set in the English countryside along a riverbank. It follows the adventures and friendships of four anthropomorphic animals — Mole, Rat (Ratty), Badger, and Toad.
The story begins when Mole, tired of spring cleaning, leaves his underground home and discovers the river, where he meets the friendly and poetic Rat, who teaches him about the joys of boating and river life. The two become close friends and visit their neighbors, including the wise and reclusive Badger and the wealthy but reckless Toad of Toad Hall. Toad becomes obsessed with motorcars, leading to wild driving sprees, accidents, and trouble with the law. His friends try to save him from his own foolishness, but Toad’s vanity and impulsiveness land him in prison. Meanwhile, stoats and weasels take over Toad Hall. With teamwork and courage, the four friends reclaim Toad’s home, and Toad learns some humility (at least temporarily). |
